Hose Cleaners

Post by Twobagger » Thu Jan 10, 2019 7:36 pm

Do a search on EBAY for "powder coat hose cleaners" and you can get hose cleaners for only $9.00 in 500 ct. bags. You can't get them at that price from Lowes or Home Depot, and they're already cut.

The company mine came from years ago charge $20 + shipping for them so $9 + shipping is a good deal but the funny part is they are both located in TX????

I just use foam "Backer Rod" from the home stores and cut it into 3/4" pieces. You need to know the inside diameter of the powder hose to get the right size.

Works fine, and it's like $2.99 for 50 feet.

Home Depot is $4.25 for 20 feet of Backer Rod when I checked yesterday. The 20 ft. will get you around 240 ct. So unless you have the time and can get free transportation it's not really worth the trouble to go get it and cut my own. And, their shipping price goes down after $3.50 for the first bag, to a $1.00 per each additional bag. So at $10.00 per bag of 500 ct. appears to be a bargain.

I see they discounted shipping til this Friday from $3.50 to $1.50 today

At $20 + from Obit I would be cutting my own but $9 + I would just buy them from him. No more than I use my unit I don't think I will ever run of the 500 Jason had sent to me when I bought his used Gema years ago.

I only use it for wheels an MC frames on something that is more complex. Have not coated any frames in a year or two now and maybe only a couple sets of wheels. MC wheels I just use my old Eastwood Pro cup gun and done :)
