newbie eager to learn

Post by boostpowder95 » Thu Jan 10, 2019 12:04 am

Just started powder coating as a hobby/turning into a small business. have done a few parts and have an issue with microscopic grey spots in my coating. I'm using Eastwood gun and powder. Curing at 400 for 20min after flowout. Cant decide if its powder quality or cure temp too high.

I think I see what you are talking about but not sure?

Screw EW and their over pricing of powder and their improper curing instructions

Buy your powder from 365 if they have the color you are wanting or from Allpowderpaints.com and you will save a lot of bucks :)

Next buy yourself and IR gun for taking the temp of your parts. Once your part reaches 400 then cure it for 10 min and you are done. You can buy an IR gun from Lowe's or Home Depot and Harbor Freight has them but not to sure how good they are?

That color you just did would also need a clear coat and that may or may not take care of what you are seeing?

Best of luck to you and welcome to the forum :D
