B17 or PS-1L in anything less than 5 gallons?

Post by 34Ford » Sat Feb 10, 2018 10:13 am

I have been doing small parts for several years now and all of the sudden there is more requests for it. Monday I did two small pieces of aluminum with gloss black and it was terrible.

I dont want to blast it back off for fear of warping from the heat, pieces are very thin.

I dont need 5 gallons for these strippers and there is nothing I can get at the local store that works worth a damn.

Surely I can find 1 gallon from someone?

If they're small parts, stripper from the big box stores will work, maybe just not as quickly as B17. I've had ok results with the Jasco brand. Personally I don't used B17 as I don't have a good location to store it and I don't like the dangers associated with it.

I use this all the time for my hooks and smaller parts. I just put some in a small container and once it gets old I pour it out and add new. Some times it works very fast and it will not hurt you. So I think this is what you need and will take care of the job. It is made by a large chemical company but they sell in large amounts sad to say.

I have some Goof Off stripper now and it is taking about 6 applications to work.

I am thinking of buying a can of Rust Oleum and see how well it works. Reviews on Amazon are promising.

Powder as you will learn and learning is not easy to remove. Buying the correct product will save you a lot of time and will not be as messy as the other ones you can buy over the counter. + the one I posted will not burn you like most of them will. But of course you have to order it and you need something now so all I can say is be careful and best of luck.

They’ll send you a quart for free , which will strip some parts , you could always soak a rag with it to get more milage from your stripper.
