Color change after da?

Post by addictj » Thu Dec 28, 2017 5:06 pm

After blasting I spray down with da, I either put the parts in the oven or hit them with a torch. They come out a different shade, is this affecting anything? It's not letting upload a pic right now

That is one thing I have never heard of so if that is happening then it has to be from another source and not from the DA unless something has contaminated it for whatever reason? Maybe what you are using to spray the part down is the only thing I can think of at the moment?
Get a good quality sprayer and try it with new DA!

Could it be that the part for some reason is getting hotter than it should? Are you taking any IR readings as they are baking?

Along with Dukes comments, are both materials the same substrate? If they are, you're oven may be getting too hot and changing the appearance of the bare metal. The oven doesn't need to be very hot to force dry a part.
What powder are you shooting on these?

I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations - James Madison

The one part looks like square tubing and the color it is I would say comes from heating bare metal over a certain temp. I use to have a metal color chart in accordance to its heated temp I'll see if I still have it I lost a lot of stuff when my old laptop died. Anyway the other part is aluminum as thats a rocker box top.

If you're havin problems uploading photos down size them some 800 x800 or smaller seem to load easier.
